My brother, Emmanuel shared this with me:

If you’re not open to a christian perspective, stop reading. But I suggest you don’t….I think its deeper then everything I’ve read so far. There is no way to justify sexual freedom for any person. Black or white, or in my case hispanic. This shouldn’t make anybody feel guilty because everyone even christians struggle with sexual purity. But through the grace of God, every person who commits their heart, mind, and soul…Well, it is up to the individual to do the hardest thing, to deny themselves the instant grafication, which in turn denies them access to thier trueself. In doing this they uncover more of their heart that can then be given over to the ‘Man’… and that is Jesus Christ. Who died for you to be free. If you rely on Him in the MIDST of your discipline/suffering he will produce a character within any individual that is unwavering, and undeniably stable, in the face of whites, blacks, hispanics, whatever…

I’m open…hit me back.

Well this is where I am with it, and please don’t take this personally…

Emmanuel, I don’t believe that Jesus died for me to be free because I don’t believe that Jesus existed.  His, is one good story that’s been told, but there are many others that are for more true and accurate but suppressed.  And for good reason.

There’s a video called “Zeitgeist” that to my mind proves that Jesus didn’t exist; that Christianity is an ideological construct designed to control and rule, designed to snatch the very freedom you were just speaking of from the human beings you claim need it to be free.  The last thing we need is an enslaver in liberator’s clothing.

Christianity is not in the least bit liberatory.  Making people adhere to a doctrine “or else” you gonna burn in hell?!  That is not a freeing doctrine, but an enslaving one.  To point a gun at someone’s head to get them to believe, get them to adhere to some doctrine let’s you know that its a bankrupt doctrine, not worthy of being believed in the first place.

You hit’em hard Free, real hard. I find that most people that believe whatever it is that they believe, only believe the forms of “religion” they profess. But, never take the time to study and KNOW what it is they believe!

I personally don’t think Christianity is designed to control and rule. I do believe, I know it has helped me to ‘free’ myself as they say.

    Just my two cents.

mysTery: I’m glad its helped you, but studying the uses of Christianity, the way that it has been used ahead of imperial powers, to evangelize people who already have a religion or spiritual practice, to force people to abandon their own religions at the point of a gun…the reality is that Christianity has extended its power globally at the expense of many indigeneous, independent, spiritual people.

Check out Marimba Ani online and read what she has to say about it. It ain’t pretty.
