My little girl is half-white, which means she’s 100% NIGGA! I ran up on this website, “On the Verge of Dating White Women” and this post which has tons of resonance — if you’re worried about yo’ baby’s ‘Ivory momma’ fucking up your beautiful black child. Funny, but true:

When just being Black ain’t enough!

I gotta admit, the mind is a mother’. I’ve always fantasized about being the Blackest dude ever and now I have no choice…

Yes, my son lives with his mother and her white boyfriend… so that means I have to be “The Equalizer.” Meaning: I gotta balance that shit out. In other words my crib is the “BLACKEST HOUSE…”

1. Where we can’t watch television programs dominated by white people.
2. Where The NBA is background scenery.
3. Where no white girls venture.
4. Where we cheer for Black boxers and we get mad when they get their asses beat.
5. Where any song at anytime can be a quiz, “Who’s this rapping?” or “Spell Luther Vandross.”
6. Where I drink EVERYTHING out of my Shaka Zulu Mug.
7. Where I have the largest collection of Black action figures.
8. Where I drive the original white OJ Simpson SUV
9. Where I live on Martin Luther King Jr. Way
10. Where I have 2 over sized autographed Public Enemy artifacts
11. Where almost every wall has a different African mask.
12. Where the Blackest Black Man Ever Resides!

  1. oh my gosh, is that your baby??????

    SHE’S A LITTLE CUTIE PATOOTIE!!!!!!!!!!!

    How darlin!

ps that doesn’t just go for those living in seperated households–i’m married to a white guy, and you never saw such a chicana loving mama–my kids *will* know their history!!!!

    🙂

  2. I always find it funny that these Afrocentric dudes go after white women

  3. Shit, when I met my ex-wife, I was a bow tie-wearing, Armstrong Williams-jiggabo Republican. She and her family cured me of that shit real-quick! There racism was so bad made we want to put ’em in a pot and cook ’em like gumbo!

  4. So you became a racist too? I can understand if you were treated badly, but that doesn’t mean you go to the other extreme and become a racist as well.

Nonetheless, I have seen many Afrocentrists marry to or dating white women. Such a big phenomenon that the Wayans brothers did a spoof of it in one of their movies. “I gonna git you sucka I believe”. I didn’t get the joke until I started seeing it. And seeing it, and seeing it.

  5. So, being an Afrocentrist means you hate white people? Or, that dating a white person conflicts with one’s Afrocentric understanding/view/belief re. history? I’m not white; I don’t hate like the lynch mobs who mindlessly killed because of black skin. I illustrated the point about my ex’s family (I wasn’t really a Repub) because in SPITE of what I knew as a history major, I married for love. AND maybe cuz I was sufficiently brainwashed. But for real: I love all people; I just hate ignorance and people who live in denial. And really, I feel sorry and not hate, accept when folks burn other people and hang them from trees or drop bombs on them based on lies.

  6. Max:

I think that people should marry who they love as well. Regardless of color.

My point with the afrocentrists is that it is hypocritical. They talk all this black pride and about the “Nubian Queen” and trash white people (that point is not up for debate..too much evidence in their books), then when it comes down to it, they go out and marry a white woman. It would be like KKK people consistently marry black women.

Again, that is their right, and I still think they should be with who they love.

But stop the hypocrisy. Just admit that you like white women. Or if you can’t get that, a Latina or Asian. Or if you can’t get that, a mulatta (Mariah Carey). Or if you can’t get that, an African-American with somewhat more European features (like Beyonce)

I would think that with so much pride, the afrocentrists would be getting women like Alek Wek in droves.

Don’t see that very often. In fact…extremely rare to see a black guy with a woman like Alek Wek

Honestly, I think that it is a good angle to pick up beautiful white liberal women.

Finally, yes lynching was a horrible crime. I think Mr Clooney would agree. It doesn’t happen as often now as it did then.

  7. BTW, yes, your daughter is cute. Don’t call her a “Nigga”

  8. U: You didn’t read my last post. I don’t hate white people; I just point out the hyprocisy/racism/hate I see in them. To point out white hate, does not mean that I HATE white people, you understand?

It is not hypocritical to point out the beauty of black/women of color and to also love a white woman – is it? I do like white women – intelligent, beautiful, anti-racist, conscious ones. There, I said it.

It is not “TRASHING” white people to point out what your people have done to us. It is not trashing white folks to be angry at racism, the theft of the last to Presidential elections, the “incarceration war” that seeks to jail every low level BLACK drug user/dealer, but NEVER the white kingpin, or the CIA operatives who flew the shit into the country in the first place.

Yo, dude, I’m not gonna deny that perhaps there have been some excesses in Afrocentric scholarship. But you’re gonna tell me that white academia has told the TRUTH about the history of the world, that they emphasize truth as opposed to the truth of the victors, the truth of the imperial conquerers, the truth of racists who can never admit ANY wrong doing?

  9. Randomly:

U said: “It would be like KKK people consistently marry black women.” Didn’t Strom Thurmond – who was KKK through and through have a black mistress and “love’ child? Happens a lot more than white folks like to admit.

    U said: ”
Finally, yes lynching was a horrible crime. I think Mr Clooney would agree. It doesn’t happen as often now as it did then.” There you go again! The point was not whether or not Clooney “cared;” it was the fact that abuses which took place on our soil are ignored, minimized, altered to make ’em look like a Brady Bunch episode, RARELY PUT ON CELLULOID, while US filmmakers make a movie a week about what the Germans did to the Jews 4000 miles away. You should ask a black person whether or not THEY think lynching still happens; many would say its morphed into other behaviors of the white state.

  10. Max:

You also cannot blame all whites for the crimes of the past.

I really don’t think that it is productive for blacks to sit around and cry about racism. It is getting them nowhere while the problems mount.

Yes, racism exists, but blacks need to look inward and solve some problems instead of the constant blaming of others. There are many whites in the trenches in inner cities trying to help black people. And making sacrifices to do so.

The situation with black jobs for example. I have been working with gov’t programs that have tried to help black youth for years to get FREE job training. People had to practically beg them to come and train to be an electrician, plumber, HVAC tech etc for FREE! Many quit after a couple of classes. Other showed no interest, while a few took advantage and did good things. In the end the program shuts down in many places from lack of interest. The culprit? Racism of course.

Of course history HAS INDEED been skewed, but it is not justice to blacks to put a black face on the exact same thing. Telling young black people that there is some advanced 25th century civilization under the jungle of Africa that was established by blacks is only a diservice. How did those primitive genetically inferior whites destroy such an advanced civilization that was exploring the far reaches of the universe?

The fact is that many different societies of all colors contributed many different things to the world. Afrocentrism takes one from thinking only whites did anything to thinking only blacks did anything and goes to the extreme with it. The blacks were these people who never did anything wrong and brought everything to the world and hid the really really good stuff under the jungle where noone could find it. (How do these afrocentrists know that it is there?)

These things are easily refuted with facts. Much less visits around the world. One then finds that afrocentrists are on some kooky island of their own (as are white supremists) when it comes to the facts.

As for the theft of the presidential elections, there were many whites on the other side of that battle. Remember Al Gore was white. Not a racial issue

///Yo, dude, I’m not gonna deny that perhaps there have been some excesses in Afrocentric scholarship///

Perhaps? I think that saying whites are a “genetic disease” is definite. Much less those who refer to whites as “devils” and say they came from some “grafting experiment”. What about saying that black civilizations had space ships and traveled thoughout the universe with NO proof?

Again, the history of the world has been skewed, but to completely skew it in another direction is non-sense. Historians are getting true information out there. The Conquistadors were bloody murderers and not heros. The Native Americans suffered genocide. Etc etc.

  11. U: We’re not getting anywhere. We disagree: Nuff said.

  12. What part you disagree with?

  13. U: I don’t have the energy to tell you. I’ve got other shit to do. I’m sure there are other black folks who’s ear you can bend on this subject and who might even agree with you on some of this – I’m not one of them. Peace, brotha.

  14. you know, U, there is a site
    http://allywork.solidaritydesign.net/

where you can go to get all this information that you seem to think that max julian needs to explain to you. maybe you should hop on over there and talk with one of the many white folks who are more than willing to engage in a lesson on whiteness with you rather than pestering max?

  15. ok brown,

In the meantime, I think you all should give this site a look

    http://inductivist.blogspot.com/

  16. i think afrocentric scholarship, like maxjulian said, does have its excesses–but who are you, unlisted, to say that black people in africa didn’t have an advanced civilization that was derailed by greedy europeans?

  17. Unlisted said: You also cannot blame all whites for the crimes of the past.

This isn’t really about the crimes of the past. I think that is a fundamental problem for white people. They honestly do not realize that everything that happened in the past has helped create the racist/classist/gendered/heteronormative society that we live in today. So you can’t separate history. There is something that should be noted that is called historical white privilege which has led to the contemporary white privilege today.

Unlisted said: I really don’t think that it is productive for blacks to sit around and cry about racism. It is getting them nowhere while the problems mount.

These aren’t just black problems. These are the problems of Americans. Poor white people outnumber poor black people 2-1. There is a meth epidemic in the “white community” and yet that is not a white problem, white men populate the prisons, are convicted more of violent crimes and white collar ones. Crime is a white problem. But it is also an American problem. Violence is a white problem, but it’s also an American problem. What you’re seeing in the black, latino, and even asian communities is kind of a magnifier of what’s happening in America today all around us. It’s not up to you to try to reframe what is productive for people of color. I personally do not think it is productive to look at statistics and try to justify your racism based on it, but you visit the blog of the inductivist where people make blatantly racist comments that are fostered by and operate in white supremacy. We need to be able to reframe our own productivity. It really does not matter to me if you view it as crying about racism, some crying needs to be done about racism. There need to be fat sobbing tears, and maybe just maybe through this we can get a little more humanity. It is ridiculous to think of it otherwise. One of the problems as I see it with America is this want to detach itself from it’s history, from it’s whiteness, it’s blackness, it’s asianness, it’s latinoness, it’s histories. All of them with painful stories. It is problematic to me that people would want to try and shutdown a discussion on what is and is not appropriate for people of color to talk about and what is happening in their own communities.

But people of color and especially not black people don’t need handouts. I want to ask you that if people can sense your attitude and the attitudes of others working with you why is it that they would want to work with people like you regardless of free training? In all honesty, it is the hostility and the way the government chooses to go about working with people of color which is one of the reasons it never works well. If you want to see communities working at their finest have the people in the communities be the ones who help other people in their communities, not ouside people who have grudges and ideas of racial superiority. If I want to get a community of poor white people together, I’m not going to send in MaxJulian. If I want to get a community of poor black people together, I won’t send in people like unlisted. Yet the government has consistently done this and we can see how well that works.

But that really isn’t the point. I’m not afrocentric, but I am pro black. It’s not that blacks never did anything wrong or that they were all good, it’s just that white people must recognize that they do not need to look at the guilty hands of everyone else to point the finger at themselves and say that they benefit from a system of racism built to keep them in a position of power, and yes it is exclusionary even to poorer whites. You’re so stuck on afrocentrism, which really hasn’t been far-reaching at all. If you were to ask average black people afro-centrism hasn’t even touched their lives, however, we (americans in this country) all know the sting of eurocentrism well.

Unlisted said: As for the theft of the presidential elections, there were many whites on the other side of that battle. Remember Al Gore was white. Not a racial issue

Oh but it is a racial issue. Actually, I don’t refer to it as a stealing, because I am not so naive as to believe that had Gore gotten into office things would have changed in this country for poor people of color. But this is the problem with living in a state where most people actually have faith in the government to do what is right for all people in a country. I do not. There were many whites on either side, but that is all there has ever been. Whites on either side, and I don’t see how that doesn’t make it a racial issue. You want people to vote for a people who don’t have their best interest at hand. The same with it being a class issue and a gender issue. It’s all there. Everyone panders to POC, the perceived poor and women when they need votes.

Unlisted said: Historians are getting true information out there. The Conquistadors were bloody murderers and not heros. The Native Americans suffered genocide. Etc etc.

Yeah, but it’s not actually being taught in our schools. And it’s not just that the Conquistadors were bloody murderers and not heros. It’s that up until 1970s white people/ the white state regularly took First Nation/Native children from their parents. So yes, in a sense you and your parents are responsible for a white supremacist nation. First Nations people suffered genocide and are continuing to suffer at the hands of a state that has people convinced that we all get casino money, don’t pay taxes, and simply do not want to a good life, advocate the use of us as mascots and has everyone and their mama claiming to be 1/32 Cherokee/Blackfoot/, but without even paying attention to the degradation that Natives still face.

The answer is to stop teaching history in such a detached way. The answer is for white people to recognized that they have a validation of 500 years (for my First Nations people). You have a 500 year head start (yes, you, even if your parents didn’t own slaves) and you want to lecture people on the state of the black nation? Give Natives 500 years of your head start, give blacks 500 years of your head start, give latinos 500 years of your head start, give Asians (and don’t come conflating that model minority myth with the real issue that there is Asian poverty in the United States) that 500 year head start and the majority status and we might be able to talk about “what you think we should do”. Until then, it’s all unequal there is no conflating any of these struggles to each other and no way that you could do so with intellectual honesty.

I don’t want to see a colorblind world. I want to see a world where people recognize that we cannot keep comparing all these different identities and scapegoating people of color as the issue when this is a problem in America and it has many different facets, with many different identities.

  18. Max, I’m sorry for the damned essay, but I couldn’t resist.

  19. Teach, Sistah, TEACH! You don’t have to apologize.
